Kia Sportage vs Nissan Juke in Pakistan

Still deciding, check out how Kia Sportage and Nissan Juke in Pakistan differ from each other over distinct specifications.

Chassis Length

The Nissan Juke is a little bit shorter than the Kia Sportage, It is 1570 mm long  vs 1630 mm long for Kia Sportage LX (2014). Depending on how you need to use your car, and what type of conditions you drive your car in, it could be a plus for you. The chassis length also shows what the constructor was thinking while designing the vehicle. A shorter chassis length leads to believe that the vehicle was designed for urban users and navigation while bigger vehicles are designed for highway travel and off-road navigation. In this case the Juke is slightly more urban-oriented than the Sportage.

Turbocharged Engine

The Nissan Juke has a turbocharged engine while the Kia Sportage doesn’t. The turbo compressed air which enters the cylinders allows more air-fuel mixture to be created (therefore more efficient fuel combustion). The result is a more powerful vehicle. While being a little bit smaller than the Sportage, the turbocharged engine makes the Juke more powerful. Although most of Pakistan’s big cities are situated in plains, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Quetta are all situated on hilly terrains or plateaus. The Juke can have a slight advantage over the Sportage in this case.

Headroom (Front and Back)

The Nissan Juke has a clearance of 1006 mm vs a clearance of 992 mm for Kia Sportage LX (2014) in the front. If you have more clearance above your head, travel will be more comfortable. This is especially important for big sized people. The story for the rear passengers is different. For rear seats, Kia Sportage is more spacey than the Nissan Juke. Practically speaking, although the Juke has more head space in the front and Sportage in the back, the differences are so small that there is no impact on the quality of the vehicles and the ease of use. Both vehicles provide ample space for both the driver and the passengers.

Horsepower

The Juke beats the Sportage hands down when it comes to engine power. It has a 188 hp motor vs  a 114 hp motor for Kia Sportage LX (2014). Apart from being turbocharged, the Juke has more horsepower as well. This could mean that the Sportage is a bigger car with a less powerful engine while the Juke is a smaller car with a more powerful engine. Horsepower per kilogram of weight shows that pound for pound the Juke, although being smaller in stature, is more powerful than the Sportage.

Cargo volume (lowered rear seats)

The Sportage has more cargo space when the rear seats are folded. Both Juke and Sportage have the rear foldable seats but the Sportage takes the cake in this case because at 10171 sq cm it has more capacity than the Juke’s 1353 square cm. Both of these vehicles are very ergonomically designed and since both of these vehicles are SUVs, they have ample space in the rear. By folding the seats, both the Juke and the Sportage practically become station wagons. Naturally since the Sportage is the bigger of the two and has a longer chassis, it sports more cargo volume in the rear when the seats are folded.

Fuel Tank

A larger fuel tank allows you to fill out less often. In this category the Sportage has clear superiority over the Juke. The Juke has a 51 litre fuel tank while the Sportage has a 58 litre fuel tank. Although the Sportage is clearly capable of holding 7 more litres of gasoline in its tank, we should not look at the fuel capacity in absolute terms. We should rather look at what is the number of kilometers which each vehicle can do with a full fuel tank and in that case both Sportage and Juke have almost no difference because the Juke consumes a little less fuel than the Sportage for the same distance.

Wheel Base

The wheelbase is the distance between the front and rear axles of the vehicle. A longer wheelbase improves the stability of the car and makes driving easier (However, a shorter wheelbase may provide better handling). The sportage has a 2.64 m wheelbase while the Juke has a 2.53m wheelbase. Once again the difference between the wheelbase is small between these two vehicles but since the Juke has clearly been designed for use in an urban environment, the designers decided to go with a small wheelbase in order to enhance the manoeuvrability of the vehicle. The Sportage being the bigger one provides for easier driving.

Maximum Torque

The torque measures immediate engine force, in other words the amount of thrust transmitted from the engine to the drive wheels. With more torque, the car is more powerful, and also can have better acceleration capability. The Sportage has a higher torque at 255 Newton-meters while the Juke has a lesser torque of 240 N-m

Clearance From Ground

The ground clearance is the distance between the lowest point of the vehicle and the ground with a weight of the vehicle in running condition. A shorter ground clearance means greater maneuverability and reduces the risk of rollover. Yet a higher guard allows you to drive better on uneven terrain. The Sportage has a ground clearance of 172 mm while the Juke has a ground clearance of 178mm.
